Another week has come and gone and I am not disappointed with my (not
so costly ;) investment in Feedly. All of the articles I see with new technology astound me. This week, while panning through Feedly, this picture
caught my eye! Wondering what this heart had to do with technology, of course I
had to read on!

In this article I read that
Scientists at Washington University in St.
Louis have made a 3D elastic member that can fit around a heart. This member
can have the same function as a pacemaker to stimulate a heart but will work
more effectively with more evenly distributed stimulation. The fitting is made by
scanning the heart to create a 3D model, then using this to create a custom fit
member to go around the outer surface of the heart. This membrane has the
potential to be equipped with sensors to monitor the heart. This new technology
could be used on other organs too for various purposes. I don’t know about you,
but I would have never imagined little “computer chips” combined with plastic
to go around one of my organs. Who knows, maybe someday it will be a standard
to have them inside of us to insure that our organs stay healthy. Time will
only tell! In the meantime, I am going to tell you about my experience with
technology that I ACTUALLY understand. J
This week we explored a tool called Evernote. I had never heard about it before, but thinking back I
remember seeing the logo. This tool allows you to gather data from the
internet in various forms, organize it and access the information from work,
home school, mobile phone…pretty much anywhere you have an internet connection.
A blog article we were asked to read
for class summed it up pretty nicely. “No
transferring of files, no remembering to save documents, no multiple copies
with varying edits.“ Now, just because I hadn’t heard of it doesn’t
mean I wasn’t excited about it! I started asking my friends if they have it of
it. Much to my demise, it seems that I was the only one that hasn’t been using
it… at least I am with the times now though, right?
I really love the concept of Evernote. I have always been hesitant to do
research for classes anywhere but home because I don’t want to waste time and have
to deal with making sure I save all of the information I find or e-mail it to
myself to access from home. This eliminates that problem. So I guess I have no
excuses now! A good or bad thing, I’m not sure.
As for adding it to my PLE (which I most definitely will!), it would
fit in the category of “create” best. It is a catalyst in my ability to create masterpiece
of work! I do not search through it, and I can share it but I wouldn’t consider
it communication and although I am right now finding it entertaining, I don’t
think it would TECHNICALLY be considered entertainment. Create it is J
Until next time!

I really like your blog, I think you're doing a really great job! The past couple weeks you have definitely enlightened me through science and the articles you post from your feedly! Keep up the good work, Sabrina!
